Ohana Health is a non-profit, licensed medical clinic, and community service organization dedicated to providing support for women, men and families in difficult pregnancy situations. We opened in May of 1985, and have served the needs of over 25,000 women, men and families in the Conejo Valley and surrounding areas. We are supported through the donations of individuals, churches, businesses, and civic organizations.


Ohana Health’s mission is to provide compassionate and confidential reproductive health and medical services, counseling and education to individuals and families.


Executive Director

Teresa is the Executive Director at Ohana Health. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and has worked in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. For eight years she held the position of Executive Director of Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley, a coalition aimed primarily at preventing drug and alcohol use among youth. In this position she mobilized grass root efforts in her community by engaging local school district, government, law enforcement and church leaders. She successfully collaborated with these key leaders and over one hundred community volunteers while managing multiple federal and state grants. Teresa has restructured and reorganized Ohana Health, ensuring the clinical professionalism of the valuable medical services provided, while also extending Ohana Health’s reach beyond the clinic to the community by starting new programs with the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) and the Ventura County Court System (VCDDC), Prototypes.


Clinic Manager

Katie is the Clinic Manager at Ohana Health. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from UCLA and has been an RN for 25 years. Her work includes emergency nursing, acute psychiatric emergency, middle school and home health. Katie supervises Ohana Health’s daily medical service operations and oversees patient care activities at the clinic.


Client Services Coordinator

Tricia is the Client Services Coordinator and a Marriage and Family Therapist at Ohana Health. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and her Masters in Clinical Psychology with a credential in Pupil Personal Services at Phillips Graduate Institute with a specialization in Pediatric Counseling. Under the Ohana Project Program, Tricia has provided counseling to students in the Conejo Valley Unified School District and continues to provide counseling to clients with supervision from Dr. Appell, PSY 15490.


Marketing Coordinator

Tori is the Marketing Coordinator at Ohana Health. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in both English and Communication with an Emphasis in Film and Television Production from California Lutheran University. She has and has planned and coordinated high-end events and has led and directed strategic marketing plans, specifically in the nonprofit sector. Tori oversees and implements fundraising efforts and donor and community relations at Ohana Health.


Marriage and Family Therapist

Dr. Appell has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1992 and licensed psychologist since 1998.  He has supervised interns for over 15 years and is a California Association of Marriage and Family therapist approved supervisor.  Additionally, Dr. Appell has worked in the public and private school systems as a teacher, counselor, and coach for 32 years.  Dr. Appell specializes with children, adolescents and families.  He is married with two young adult children and resides in Thousand Oaks.

Rebecca Dreiling is a third year practicum student from California Lutheran University working towards getting her doctorate in clinical psychology. She is passionate about working with children and adolescents with a wide range of emotional and behavioral problems. She strives to serve from a place of great empathy and understanding for the children and families she works with. Rebecca is devoted to ensuring that each child she works with receives the individualized care that is tailored to their specific needs.


Ohana Health Clinic Staff Member

Angela Claffey received her B.A. in Leadership and Ministry at Life Pacific College and is currently pursuing he doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at California Lutheran University. Her clinical and research interests are in developing treatments for eating disorders that integrate of theology and psychology. She has training in the treatment of trauma and suicide assessment. She is passionate about helping others walk in the freedom that Christ died to give them.

Allyson Salas is a 4th year Psy.D student at California Lutheran University. Much of her training and research interests have focused on work with adolescents, and this is truly where her passion lies. Prior to entering the Psy.D program at CLU, Allyson received her masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, CA. Allyson has worked as a trainee in both public and private high schools, providing counseling services to students in need. She looks forward to this new journey with Ohana Health while continuing her work in school based counseling.

Natasha is a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee at Ohana Health. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Woodbury University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her interest in trauma and clinical interventions with children and adolescents has led her to work with students in the Conejo Valley School District.
