Ohana Health is a non-profit, licensed medical clinic, and community service organization dedicated to providing support for women, men and families in difficult pregnancy situations. We opened in May of 1985, and have served the needs of over 25,000 women, men and families in the Conejo Valley and surrounding areas. We are supported through the donations of individuals, churches, businesses, and civic organizations.


Ohana Health’s mission is to provide compassionate and confidential reproductive health and medical services, counseling and education to individuals and families.


Executive Director

Teresa is the Executive Director at Ohana Health. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and has worked in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. For eight years she held the position of Executive Director of Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley, a coalition aimed primarily at preventing drug and alcohol use among youth. In this position she mobilized grass root efforts in her community by engaging local school district, government, law enforcement and church leaders. She successfully collaborated with these key leaders and over one hundred community volunteers while managing multiple federal and state grants. Teresa has restructured and reorganized Ohana Health, ensuring the clinical professionalism of the valuable medical services provided, while also extending Ohana Health’s reach beyond the clinic to the community by starting new programs with the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) and the Ventura County Court System (VCDDC), Prototypes.


Registered Nurse

Katie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from UCLA and has been an RN for 25 years. Her work includes emergency nursing, acute psychiatric emergency, middle school and home health. Katie supervises Ohana Health’s daily medical service operations and oversees patient care activities at the clinic.


Nurse Manager

Pam received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the U of M – University of Minnesota. Her work has included developing and supervising an Assisted Living Program in Washington County Minnesota, Home Health Care Nurse, RN at the University of Minnesota and an RN at a Nursing Home. She also managed and supervised the Meals on Wheels program for Washington County in Minnesota. Pam manages Ohana Health’s medical services operations and patient care activities.


Client Services Coordinator

Tricia is the Client Services Coordinator and a Marriage and Family Therapist at Ohana Health. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix and her Masters in Clinical Psychology with a credential in Pupil Personal Services at Phillips Graduate Institute with a specialization in Pediatric Counseling. Under the Ohana Project Program, Tricia has provided counseling to students in the Conejo Valley Unified School District and continues to provide counseling to clients with supervision from Dr. Appell, PSY 15490.


Licensed Psychologist and Marriage and Family Therapist

Dr. Appell is the Clinical Director/Supervisor at Ohana Health. He has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1992 and a licensed psychologist since 1998.  He has supervised interns for over 15 years and is a California Association of Marriage and Family therapist approved supervisor.  Additionally, Dr. Appell has worked in the public and private school systems as a teacher, counselor, and coach for 32 years.  Dr. Appell specializes with children, adolescents and families.  He is married with two young adult children and resides in Thousand Oaks.


Marriage and Family Therapist

Stacy is a Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor trainee with her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Santa Barbara and BA from the University of Texas at Austin.  Stacy has received additional training to address complex trauma, neuropsychological assessment, and play therapy. She currently works with a wide spectrum of clients with severe mental illness, trauma, addiction, mood and personality disorders, and various anxiety and adjustment disorders with a focus on somatic practices that address embodied self-awareness. Prior to her role as a therapist, she was certified and taught community and private classes as a yoga teacher to both children and adults. Stacy thrives on helping her clients better understand themselves and make more meaningful connections with others.


Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Deborah Carlon is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Ohana Health. She received her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. She has worked with individuals and families in various areas including substance abuse, eating disorders, self-esteem, anxiety, trauma, and relationships. Deborah has extensive experience in case
management, crisis intervention, and treatment planning. She has a strong interest in working with adolescents and using the creative arts in therapy.


Board Certified Physician Assistant

Andrea McFadden, PA-C is a board certified physician assistant. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Human Development from the University of Kansas and received her physician assistant degree cum laude from St. Louis University School of Allied Health. Andrea practiced family medicine in rural Iowa for fifteen years before moving to California. Since arriving in California, she has practiced in a variety of settings including family medicine, life insurance underwriting, Veteran’s Administration primary care, and currently in urgent care. Women’s health has always been a part of her practice. Andrea has served as the medical provider in Ohana Health’s Well Woman Clinic since its inception 15 years ago.
